ECO-SHIELD is a versatile tool for professional snow and ice management contractors, offering precise control over brine performance. Contractors can tailor the ECO-SHIELD concentration to their specific needs, adding up to 20% to sodium chloride (NaCl) brine for enhanced ice melting and reduced salt use.
ECO-SHIELD is a safe and effective winter maintenance product made from environmentally friendly, reliable ingredients. It meets the rigorous guidelines developed by the Pacific Northwest Snowfighters (PNS), an association of transportation agencies dedicated to ensuring the safety of winter maintenance products, and maintained by Clear Roads, a national research consortium focused on rigorous testing of winter maintenance materials.
By increasing brine's viscosity, ECO-SHIELD extends brine's anti-icing performance in colder temperatures, reduces bounce and scatter for prewetting systems, and minimizes dust and leaching when used as a stockpile treatment.
Enhances brine's deicing performance by extending its effective range and boosting its melting power.
Reduces brine’s corrosion rate by as much as 75%, depending on the addition rate.
Provides professional snow and ice managers the ability to cover more pavement with less product, delivering significant cost savings and environmental benefits.
Significantly improves operational effectiveness for frost prevention when compared to straight brine.
Anti-icing For anti-icing treatments, an application rate between 18-30 gallons per lane mile/1.45 acres/63,162 square feet. ECO-SHIELD improves brine’s melting capacity and keeps it on the pavement surface longer, extending its melting power. As an anti-icer, ECO-SHIELD prevents snow and ice from bonding to pavement surfaces at lower temperatures.
Deicing Depending on snowpack thickness, 50-plus gallons per lane mile/1.45 acres/63,162 square feet is recommended. When applied using direct stream nozzles, ECO-SHIELD penetrates the snowpack and alleviates snow and ice’s bond with the pavement surface faster than traditional brine and straight rock salt. This assists snow and ice management professionals’ on-site efficiency and decreases the amount of chemicals required to produce bare pavement.
Pre-wettingDepending upon use and performance objective, ECO-SHIELD can be applied at a rate of 5-15 gallons per ton of granular material. When added at the spinner, ECO-SHIELD improves the rate at which rock salt penetrates the snowpack, especially at lower temperatures. In addition, it reduces bounce and scatter rates, increasing rock salt’s effectiveness and reducing waste.
Stockpile Treatment ECO-SHIELD is an effective stockpile treatment at a rate of 20% to brine, which improves its viscosity. Treating with 4-6 gallons per ton of granular material enhances performance while reducing bounce and scatter. And due to ECO-SHIELD’s corrosion-inhibitive properties, treated salt and brine are less corrosive to infrastructure and equipment.
